We have been providing veterinary services to the Dortmund northeast since 1990. Located conveniently close to the A2 motorway and in close proximity to the towns of Lünen and Kamen, we are very easily accessible by road.

The Head Veterinarian Volker Borchers has been working at Scharnhorst since 1993.

His professional career includes positions in Giessen, Bochum, Essen, and Ilford/England, as well as Glasgow/Scotland. His main areas of expertise, in addition to general veterinary care, are joint orthopedic surgery and physical medicine.

Dogs and cats constitute the main part of our clientele. For your cats, we are happy to offer separate waiting rooms upon request. In addition, we routinely treat pet birds, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.

Ferrets are part of our standard clientele. We are among the first practices in Germany to include ferrets in our treatment program over 25 years ago.

For all mammals, we perform many necessary soft tissue, bone, and joint surgeries on-site. As a clinic-oriented small animal practice, we have very high professional standards for both outpatient and inpatient therapy. To meet these standards, our veterinarians and veterinary technicians regularly participate in further training. Our equipment is adapted and renewed to meet current needs. Ultrasound, Doppler sonography, X-ray, endoscopy, underwater treadmill, ECG, and our own in-house laboratory, along with other diagnostic and treatment equipment, are used regularly and routinely.
