GHANA - GERMANY Competitive Advantage: Collaborative Development Strategic Partnership and Project Incubator between stakeholders from business, science, and society The Ghana Business Development Center (GBDC) in Berlin is being established as a pioneering institution to elevate economic cooperation between the Republic of Ghana and the Federal Republic of Germany to a deeper strategic level. Beyond the traditional promotion of trade and direct investment, the GBDC positions itself as a central project incubator for the implementation of bilateral initiatives that both strengthen the Ghanaian economy and open new horizons for German companies. A clear focus of the center lies in the realization of joint, sustainable projects. This particularly includes the development and placement of skilled labor: the GBDC will initiate programs that provide momentum for dual vocational training in Ghana—modeled after the German system—and promote the cross-border mobility of qualified personnel in both directions. Another strategic priority is the transfer of knowledge and technology. The center acts as a link between German research institutions, universities, and technology companies and their counterparts in Ghana. The goal is to accelerate the exchange of innovations, best practices, and forward-looking technologies—particularly in the fields of renewable energy, digitalization, and agribusiness—to support Ghana's industrial development. Furthermore, the GBDC recognizes the potential of sports as a driver for social and economic development. The center will build partnerships with German sports organizations and clubs to support talent development and the expansion of sports infrastructure in Ghana. We are BEWUSST WIE e.V., a Dortmund-based Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) association dedicated to promoting greater social responsibility and awareness within companies and among executives. Founded in 2013 by the Dortmund Economic Development Agency alongside committed local organizations and businesses, the network quickly established itself as a significant catalyst and a leading voice in the dialogue on CSR topics. The official registration as an association in 2019 further confirms this positive trajectory for the future.
